Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Matthew Caminiti ("we", "us") for using the Halo app and its services ("Halo"). By creating an account or using Halo, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Halo. Your license to the iOS app itself is also covered by Apple's standard license agreement.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 to use Halo; if you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since that's how you sign in, and for activity on your Halo account.
Your content
What you capture is yours. You give us permission to store, copy, and process it — including sending it to our AI providers to generate questions — only to run Halo for you. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. You're responsible for having the right to use what you capture.
AI-generated questions
Halo uses AI to write questions from what you capture. They can be incomplete or wrong. Treat Halo as a study aid, not as a source of truth, and don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions.
Halo Pro
- Halo is free to use with 10 captures a month. Halo Pro is a monthly subscription that adds photo capture and raises the limit to 300 captures a month. Regenerating a capture's questions counts as a capture. Reviewing is always free.
- Halo Pro is sold through the App Store and billed to your Apple Account at the price shown in the app. It renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
- Monthly allowances reset at the start of each calendar month in your time zone, and unused captures don't carry over. Captures saved beyond your allowance are kept and can be processed later.
- We may change the plans, prices, or allowances. We'll give you advance notice of any price change, as the App Store requires, and it won't affect a period you've already paid for.
Acceptable use
Please don't use Halo to:
- store or process anything illegal, or anything you don't have the right to use;
- interfere with, overload, or try to break into Halo or other people's accounts;
- get around the plan limits, or resell or automate access to Halo;
- reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Ending your use
You can stop using Halo and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel that too. We may end or change parts of Halo. If we ever shut it down, we'll give you reasonable notice first.
Disclaimers and liability
Halo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will help you remember any particular thing. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to Halo is limited to the amount you paid us for Halo in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Halo after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, except where the law of your country of residence gives you protections that can't be waived.
